Brownsburn Community Park, Airdrie
Located only a stone's throw from Airdrie town centre, Brownsburn community park is a huge park forged from what used to be disregarded ad derelict land wedged between several areas of the town. In 1991 this area was taken over by a local group known as the Friends of Brownsburn Community Park and to give the local community a sense of countryside and a place for exercise and relaxation. Throughout the year this group holds volunteer days alongside the Countryside Ranger Service where locals can help maintain the park with activities such as tree and bulb planting.
Today, this huge park is fenced in on all sides and is the perfect place for dogs to get a really good run around in the grass and trees. Many people bring their dogs here to get some exercise due to its size and friendly atmosphere. There isn't a day that goes by when people from the surrounding areas and all over aren't out in the park.
What's great is that this park is fenced in on all sides with entry gates that can be closed behind you, so that even dogs that are off running about can't escape out in the streets and neighbourhoods.

Drumpellier is set within 500 acres of moorland, woodlands and grasslands giving you plenty to explore. These trails are often also lined with little tidbits of information about the local wildlife and botany - how cool is that?
The park can be accessed from multiple entries and, for the most part, is fenced in so that you'll always be able to keep an eye on your fur baby! This park is massive, and you could easily spend an entire day here getting lost in the beautiful surroundings.

For the avid walker amongst you, why not grab your pooch and make a go at walking the Monkland Canal walking route? Not in its entirety, of course, but more specifically the branch that combines both of our locations and spans from Airdrie to Coatbridge? First constructed in 1770, this canal starts in Airdrie and ends in Glasgow where it eventually joins with the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The Monkland Canal's starting point is located in Calderbank, Airdrie and from here you can walk the trailing alongside the canal for a total of 12.5 miles. Though for locals, we recommend you and your furry friend walk a shorter branch of this route that runs from Calderbank through to Drumpellier Park in Coatrbrudge.
Of course, there are many stop-offs between these two points where you can hop off the trail once you've had enough. This route is an easy one for walkers, with a signposted pathway alongside the beautiful canal, allowing your dog to run around while you admire the local scenery in peace and quiet.
